Cindy Sheehan, the little mom that could, have stepped away from the peace movement, drained of all emotion by the twin forces of the Armageddonists who battled her and the so-called progressives who lied in her face.

I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and
especially since I became the so-called "Face" of the American anti-war
movement. Especially since I renounced any tie I have remaining with the
Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such "liberal blogs" as the
Democratic Underground. Being called an "attention whore" and being told "good
riddance" are some of the more milder rebukes.

I have come to some heartbreaking conclusions this Memorial Day Morning.
These are not spur of the moment reflections, but things I have been meditating
on for about a year now. The conclusions that I have slowly and very reluctantly
come to are very heartbreaking to me.

The first conclusion is that I was the darling of the so-called left as
long as I limited my protests to George Bush and the Republican Party. Of
course, I was slandered and libeled by the right as a "tool" of the Democratic
Party. This label was to marginalize me and my message. How could a woman
have an original thought, or be working outside of our "two-party"
system?

However, when I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same
standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to
erode and the "left" started labeling me with the same slurs that the right
used. I guess no one paid attention to me when I said that the issue of peace
and people dying for no reason is not a matter of "right or left", but "right
and wrong."

I am deemed a radical because I believe that partisan politics should be
left to the wayside when hundreds of thousands of people are dying for a war
based on lies that is supported by Democrats and Republican alike. It amazes me
that people who are sharp on the issues and can zero in like a laser beam on
lies, misrepresentations, and political expediency when it comes to one party
refuse to recognize it in their own party. Blind party loyalty is dangerous
whatever side it occurs on. People of the world look on us Americans as jokes
because we allow our political leaders so much murderous latitude and if we
don’t find alternatives to this corrupt "two" party system our Representative
Republic will die and be replaced with what we are rapidly descending into with
nary a check or balance: a fascist corporate wasteland. I am demonized because I
don’t see party affiliation or nationality when I look at a person, I see that
person’s heart. If someone looks, dresses, acts, talks and votes like a
Republican, then why do they deserve support just because he/she calls
him/herself a Democrat?

I have also reached the conclusion that if I am doing what I am doing
because I am an "attention whore" then I really need to be committed. I have
invested everything I have into trying to bring peace with justice to a country
that wants neither. If an individual wants both, then normally he/she is not
willing to do more than walk in a protest march or sit behind his/her computer
criticizing others. I have spent every available cent I got from the money a
"grateful" country gave me when they killed my son and every penny that I have
received in speaking or book fees since then. I have sacrificed a 29 year
marriage and have traveled for extended periods of time away from Casey’s
brother and sisters and my health has suffered and my hospital bills from last
summer (when I almost died) are in collection because I have used all my energy
trying to stop this country from slaughtering innocent human beings. I have been
called every despicable name that small minds can think of and have had my life
threatened many times.

The most devastating conclusion that I reached this morning, however, was
that Casey did indeed die for nothing. His precious lifeblood drained out in a
country far away from his family who loves him, killed by his own country which
is beholden to and run by a war machine that even controls what we think. I have
tried every since he died to make his sacrifice meaningful. Casey died for a
country which cares more about who will be the next American Idol than how many
people will be killed in the next few months while Democrats and Republicans
play politics with human lives. It is so painful to me to know that I bought
into this system for so many years and Casey paid the price for that allegiance.
I failed my boy and that hurts the most.

I have also tried to work within a peace movement that often puts
personal egos above peace and human life. This group won’t work with that group;
he won’t attend an event if she is going to be there; and why does Cindy Sheehan
get all the attention anyway? It is hard to work for peace when the very
movement that is named after it has so many divisions.

Our brave young men and women in Iraq have been abandoned there
indefinitely by their cowardly leaders who move them around like pawns on a
chessboard of destruction and the people of Iraq have been doomed to death and
fates worse than death by people worried more about elections than people.
However, in five, ten, or fifteen years, our troops will come limping home in
another abject defeat and ten or twenty years from then, our children’s children
will be seeing their loved ones die for no reason, because their grandparents
also bought into this corrupt system. George Bush will never be impeached
because if the Democrats dig too deeply, they may unearth a few skeletons in
their own graves and the system will perpetuate itself in
perpetuity.

I am going to take whatever I have left and go home. I am going to go
home and be a mother to my surviving children and try to regain some of what I
have lost. I will try to maintain and nurture some very positive relationships
that I have found in the journey that I was forced into when Casey died and try
to repair some of the ones that have fallen apart since I began this
single-minded crusade to try and change a paradigm that is now, I am afraid,
carved in immovable, unbendable and rigidly mendacious marble.

Camp Casey has served its purpose. It’s for sale. Anyone want to buy five
beautiful acres in Crawford , Texas ? I will consider any reasonable offer. I
hear George Bush will be moving out soon, too...which makes the property even
more valuable.

This is my resignation letter as the "face" of the American anti-war
movement. This is not my "Checkers" moment, because I will never give up trying
to help people in the world who are harmed by the empire of the good old US of
A, but I am finished working in, or outside of this system. This system
forcefully resists being helped and eats up the people who try to help it. I am
getting out before it totally consumes me or anymore people that I love and the
rest of my resources.

Good-bye America ...you are not the country that I love and I finally
realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can’t make you be that country unless
you want it.

It’s up to you now.

And I know the frustrtation. For the last two year I have devoted a good part of what I post to the screaming at the top of my lungs to anyone who can hear what devils....true devils....occupy the White House, Senate, House, state and local offices, and other areas of power. We have seen what they have done to Don Imus and Rosie O'Donnel. We have seen what they tried to do to Air America. We pretty much know what they would do to Keith Olbermann.

Let me remind you that some people still hold these assholes to the same standard whether they be Liberal or Conserbative assholes...

And Matt Damon, private citizen, calling out the cowards we thought were on the side of truth and right...

But one more group who has not been added to the equasion....but should.

According to the last census reports, there are over 200 million people in this country registered to vote. Only 37 million of those people turned out for the last Congressional elections. Which means that about 160 million people sat on thier fat asses and stared at American I-Dull, while we continue to send our youngest, best, and brightest to thier deaths.

What in the name of the God you say you serve are you fucking waiting for? Your sone of daughter coming home in a box? Or maybe a few planes going into the Empire State Building? Or maybe, giving the benefit of a doubt, your asscheeks are cemented firmly on your fucking Stratolounger, ready to throw stones at Linday Lohan, while yoiu nose sucks up a higher quality of cocaine tan she can get?

Your free speech rights have all but evaoprated. The rest of the bill or rights is toilet paper. The country continues to slide into a xenophobic theocracy, so afraid people coming over one border that they ignore potential REAL terrorists waltzing over another? You do not even have the gumption to do something about your family's financial future knowing Goddamned well what may be coming up in 2012. You sit and you sit and you sit, you and your rugrats and your dog, kitten, and one and a half Toyotas, staring at what ever glowing screen is in front of you, bypassing any chance to get involved, to make a difference. You are sitting and waiting to die.

For those for which that applies, I have one thing to say to you....hurry the fuck up.

Your are useless pieces of baggage and you should just move over and make room for those of us who still give a rats about this country and the principles that formed the foundation of what was, until 6 years ago, The Greatest Country In The History of the World.

However, since you will probably be among us, at least humor us with this: the Democratic and Republican parties are dinosaurs. Conservatism, Liberalism, Communism, all the other -isms, are all relics of a past that does not apply. Time has come to divorce ourselves from party-ecentric polictics, and simply ope for one standard: what works?

There are good things in both mainstream (we can get rid of THAT idea too) platforms, but they cannot work because they are tangles in the pride that is going before the fall of the Donkey and the Packadyrm.We need to free those ideas and work for solutions, not sound bite fodder.

But first, we must bring the troops home. Now. No more funding. No more excuses. And we must expose the Cheney-Wolfowitz cabal that controls G. W. Bush...even if they unleashe thier worst. And we have seen just a small bit of what they are capable of doing.

We have little time. This country is not dead yet. But if nothing happens, it might as well.

I'm tired too. I do not know how long I will be able to keep this up. But I feel that I must keep this up. Even if I am the only one.

Wearied by war, Americans paused Wednesday to listen to President Bush's plan
to send 21,500 more troops to Iraq, responding with frustration, puzzlement and,
in some cases, cautious hope.

In a prime-time address to the nation, the president said he would boost
the U.S. presence in Iraq to more than 150,000 troops, steeled the country for
more violence and said he had made a mistake by not ordering more troops there
last year.

At a diner called Miss Katie's in downtown Milwaukee, office manager Dave
Berndt said Bush seemed to be "apologizing for what's going on so far, and
almost apologizing in advance for what's going on afterwards."
Nearby,
bartender Joe Sardino was more blunt: "I think this is a Band-Aid on a large
wound."

Going head-to-head with Democrats who have called for an end to the war,
Bush said an American pullback now would shatter the Iraqi government and lead
to "mass killings on an unimaginable scale."
Still, the president was
speaking to a nation that has in large part soured on the war, which this spring
will enter its fifth year and which last month cost its 3,000th American
life.

An Associated Press-Ipsos poll in December put approval of Bush's
handling of the war at 27 percent, a record low, and a majority of voters
interviewed in exit polls during the midterm elections said they favored pulling
some or all troops from Iraq.

Even among Americans who applauded Bush's decision to bolster the
American military presence in Iraq, there were questions about why the
reinforcements were only being sent now.

"I'd love to know what took him so long to come to this realization,"
said Wayne Muller, who watched the speech from his home in Raleigh, N.C., and
whose son, Cpl. Danny Muller, serves in Iraq's volatile Anbar province.
"We
either have to get the troops in there to get the job done or bring them home,"
Muller said.

In other quarters, there was clear frustration.

Brad Rosen, a 24-year-old Harvard Law student who watched the speech
among a crowd of about 100 at Cambridge Common bar, seized on Bush's assertion
that 80 percent of the sectarian violence in Iraq is concentrated near
Baghdad.

"Where was that information a year ago, when I would have said increase
the troops?" Rosen asked. "But now it seems like a defense posture."

Bush called the increase in American force a change in course in the Iraq
war, and said failure in Iraq would a be "a disaster for the United States." His
speech appeared to stir hope in some that the war might turn for the
better.
A handful of veterans gathered at an American Legion post in Killeen,
Texas, near Fort Hood, to watch the speech. There, 59-year-old Dave Washko, who
called himself "just an old soldier," said he supported Bush.

"I'm just praying it works," he said.

Another veteran there, George Payntar, who served in the Vietnam war,
added: "If we pull out, they'll be here. I am afraid if we pull out now, we
would lose the progress we made and the Iraqi people would suffer greatly."

In Utah — a Bush electoral stronghold where a recent Salt Lake Tribune
poll found less than half of state residents support his war plan — technology
consultant Bart Barker said it may have been Bush's last shot at winning public
support.

"I was pleased that he didn't try to be overly optimistic," said Barker,
52, of Draper. "The way he talked about deploying added troops does give me a
little hope."

At the upscale restaurant and bar Novecento in Miami's financial
district, patrons seemed more interested in the television screens showing
Cirque Du Soleil than the president's speech.
But many who did watch it said
they were cautiously hopeful.

"I have no idea if this is going to work," said Richard Earl, a
33-year-old money manager. "But he's got a plan. Let's hope it does."

Officer Killed in Battle, but His Ideas Live On

Dec. 15, 2006 — - President Bush has spent the last few weeks engaged
in complex briefings with senior military officers, State Department officials
and outside experts as he tries to come up with a new plan to achieve victory in
Iraq.

But a young captain serving in Iraq's violent Al Anbar Province has
offered a simple explanation of what the problem was in Iraq and how to solve
it. Among his observations is the importance of having a moustache in
Iraq.

In a military known for its sleep-inducing, graphically dizzying
PowerPoint presentations, the young captain's presentation, which has been
unofficially circulating through the ranks, stands out. Using stick figures and
simple language, it articulates the same goal as the president's in Iraq.

The creator of this PowerPoint presentation, "How to Win in Al Anbar,"
was Capt. Travis Patriquin.
But Patriquin will not see victory in Iraq. He
was killed by the same improvised explosive device that killed Maj. Megan
McClung of the Marine Corps last Wednesday.

Patriquin had fought in Afghanistan and Iraq. A gifted officer, he
spoke numerous languages, including Arabic.
"How to Win in Al Anbar" may not
make it to the desk of the president, but maybe it should.

This is not war, this is murder. And if this is not an impeachable offense, I do not know what is.
