What I believe....

There have been a lot of "manifestos" floating around the internet lately. Lot or arguments and snarkiness based not on fact but on one's imagined point of view.

To be honest I have tried to put out what I know is the truth. But very few people listened. Or understood.

So I may be stepping down my efforts on line...just posting the occasional link. To be honest I cannot "debate" based on hatred. I can only go by what I see.

But before I go, I think, once and for all, I should be clear on what I believe. I must warn you, some of what is in my head may be troublesome for you. If, though, you look at it all with a open mind and clarity, you will see that I do have a point.

I'm not holding my breath on that, though.

I believe....

• Barack Obama is not the greatest President we have ever had. But he is not the worst either.
• Sarah Palin is smarter than most of you. So is Rachel Maddow.
• We are broke. Yet no one, Democrat or Republican, has the balls to do what needs to be done. What needs to be done would be an instant death wish. And I am not talking politically. (Correction: There was the sequester. We seemed to have survived that.  Which was my point...)
• You are broke. You have a responsibility to build your wealth, and do it in the next 5 years. Stop running from that, embrace it. And for those who think as I do on most things, remember the one thing a conservative fears is a RICH liberal. Got it?
• Jimmy Kimmel is overrated. Craig Ferguson is underrated. Craig's announcer was Fred R. Rated.
• All drugs should be legal. All of them. You're just responsibile for what you do when you are loaded.
• If you are a sane responsibile citizen, you should be able to own a gun, provided you take the responsibility of using one. By the way, owning a Sherman tank does not indicate you are a responsibile citizen.
• Scott Walker is a fucking moron. On most issues, so is Michael Moore.
• Most music sucks. When the last decent song recorded in this country is called "Fuck You," its time to pack it in.
• "Heroes" should never have been cancelled. "The Cape" should never have been greenlighted. SwanQueen should happen. Period.
• Jan Brewer is a cow.
• Most, if not all, of our taboos on sex are about to go out the window. That includes...well, THAT. And THAT. and even THAT! Probably because we are more perverted than we realize. Don't believe me? How long have YOU been counting the days until Dakota Fanning turn 18? Or staring at those twins making out with each other on that porno you've been pounding by.
• If we MUST have laws outlawaing some couplings, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. For instance, if some teacher and her student are caught in the backseat doing the horizontal bop, with the student's best friend videotaping the action (true story), the kid has forever given up the right to be called a "victim." Also, if both parties consent, both go to jail.
• On the other hand, if you for force anyone to have sex, regardless of age, You. Go. To. Jail. For. The. Rest. Of. Your. Fucking. Life.

• The average life expectancy in CANADA is 81. The average life expectancy in the USA is 78. Hmmmm...wonder why.
• Everyone gets their news from either the AP or Reuters. Everyone. That includes Fox, MSNBC, and Alex Jones.  So much for the coporate news media.
• How do you end homelessness? Give them a home. Next question...
• Lana Parrilla is the most beautiful woman in the world.
• For the last fucking time, The President was born in HAWAII, not KENYA. See www.snopes.com. However, maybe what we need are more Presidents born in Kenya.
• 9/11 WAS an inside job.
• AA IS a cult. So are both political parties.
• The entire congregation of the Westboro Baptist Church should never have been born.

• And finally, all people are humans. No matter what their faith or politics, they eat cereal, love sunshine, marvel at rain, go to the bathroom(!), love too much, cry too much, curse at their team a bit too much, love thier familes (some more than most...and that's alright too!), and eventually die. And if you are going to die, if the sum of your life is just being left alone, then you are already dead. Just remember, left or right, most political stuff is bullshit anyway. The REAL stuff is the little things you don't notice. LIVE YOUR LIFE.

Off the grid

I am writing this (or at least starting to write this) on 9.29.08 at about 1:08pm PST.

It is possible that within one month from now, the government will be allowed to force me to marry someone I do not want to marry.



It is definite that, depending on who, I may not be able to fall in love with whoever based on a lot of things.

I am constantly reminded that I will, forever be tied to an economic system that regards me as, pretty much, a turd. The kind of turd, though, depend on who you talk to.

People running for office cannot come up with any solutions, or at best, the same old one-liners that do not work anymore.

Oh, did I mention today was the first day of the Great Depression of 2008?

Am I the only one who feels like this?

Good.

Then maybe we can do something about all this, together......or separately.

Now before I say anything, I need to mention this. I am not advocating the breaking of laws, though I know that many who are reading this may be, shall we say social, political, or even....dare I say it...sexual outcasts in this society. And I know that many who read this may not be in line with a lot of things others who read this are line up with.

But most of us agree on one thing.




It's time to get off the grid.



These are ideas. Some you might not agree with. Sorry....we are in a situation where you may be forced to conform. You need to be mobile and flexible in more ways than one.


That means, first, you need to be financially flexible. You need to start learning how money works and how you can make it work for you. For some, it will be a challenge, but you need to know how to do it, because...ultimately....if you are NOT mobile, you may very well be screwed in the place you are.

There are many more, but you get the idea. Learn about money. How to grow it. How to use it. How to stop bitching about not having any.

In addition, add sites like http://www.cnbc.com/ and http://www.thestreet.com/ to your bookmarks.

Be smart when spending money. Know your power: we stopped buying gas and the impossible happened: the price of gas continues to go down, even as the price of oil has been going up. You have more power than you have. Use it.

Your next car should be a hybrid. Preferably a Hybrid SUV.

Start storing food. I'm not saying become a survivalist, but invest in a freezer and start storing meat. For any canned goods you get, store some away. You are gathering nuts for the winter. And it will be a cold one.

Start looking for land. Especially if you are an "outcast." You may want to find some place out of the way. Remember anything can be delivered. Investigate satellite TV, radio, and Internet. Ditto solar energy. Remember: goal 1 is to get off line as much as possible.

Oh, and by the way: PAY YOUR TAXES. If you are getting smart with money you may be making more of it, so write the check. Don't, there will be snoopin'.

And one more thing: if someone comes to you with an idea for creating money, like a businees, don't shine them on so fast. Many opportunities, such as Avon, Amway Global, and Herbalife, have been very successful. I know many of the people in these organizations are pretty much on the conservative side. Remember, you are not doing these things to engage in lively conversation. You are doing these things to save your ass. And what ever it takes, do. At least do the do diligence and have an open mind.

Now that we have covered financial, political:

Step one: vote.

Step two: see step one.

I know....you may not be happy with what is out there. I certainly am not. But remember what I said...everything you are doing is to save your ass. And you can't do that with things that will not go into fruition. Look at VIABLE candidates....those that have at least a 50% shot at winning (sorry NaderFan, its not going to happen). Put ideology aside and find the ones who come closest to how you feel about things. Work for that candidate. Then if he/she wins....ride them like a bronco....or a hot lover (or maybe they are one in the same.....you never know). Ask direct questions. Stay informed (http://news.google.com/ for starters). Do not let them off the hook.

In terms of being informed, read. Fill yourselves not just with people you agree with bit people you do not. Remember most of the sheeple are people who are ON the grid, and you are trying to get off.

I do want to make one thing clear....when I say "off the grid," again, I am not talking about some rustic existence in the woods someone in Oregon, though for some, it may be a real option. But what I AM saying is that if you continue to stay on the grid, you will be exposing yourself to things like the market crash of today and other things that may effect your live adversely, especially if your views on certain thing lay outside of the mainstream.

Which leads to my final suggestion. Network to find others like you. Not just "friend collectors" on social sites, but people you can confide in, who you can care for and they care for you. People who will not flinch when you talk about your life because they may have had the same experiences too. And there maybe be more than you think.

Know who your friends are. Ask questions. If you get "that funny feeling," walk away,

But if you find that person, stay with him/her/them. Find a way to stay in contact off line, for the wrong thing said can get a person kicked of of places like Multiply and MySpace.

And you are going to need friends in the next 10 years.

A personal note

This has been a hard and great week for me. I have seen passion that I have not seen in the many years, and I saw how ruthless the powerful can be. I have also been frustrated to no end, but yet this blog I post everyday has found more people coming to it, and the thank you all for doing so.

To me, as a black man, this Imus thing has been solely about one thing....freedom of speech. That freedom is one of the things that, until recently, made this country unique in all the world. It is now very apparent that this freedom is gone.

We have abdicated our rights to small groups of people who claim to speak for us. We have allowed corporate lawyers to circumvent our rights to disseminate information in the way we see fit. But most importantly, we have allowed our society.....out vibrant, profane, erotic, outrageous, alive society....to become the bland , grey, lifeless hell.

I have called it the Melba Toasting of America, because our society is like that odious dish, then, crisp, with no flavor. We have all...or almost all..become, in a sense, sheep. Some by choice, some forced into it. However, we have become sheep.

And it has become clear as day to me. Fall in line, or disappear. Don Imus has disappeared, completely as of Friday. Soon Rosie will disappear (http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2007/04/rosie_odonnell_.html). Several others, real or fictional, have been forced into the closet.

Soon we will all wear the same clothes, the same hair, read the same book, listen to the same song, and all wear the same blank expression. We will dutifully say the line carefully written for us, buy what we have been told to buy, and paired off based on who we have assigned to be mated. And with few exceptions, none of us will realize what has happened.

So to those who have read and listened, I thank you. To those who supported, thank you more. Soon, I may be the only person saying these things. I have lost good friend because of the Imus controversy, but right is right.

But like I said, the orders from on high are Fall In or Disappear. And if for some reason I kinda drop off the face of the earth............well, you'll know.
