Here is a perspective. There are 754,000 homeless people in this country...and that figure is conservative. In 2008, the government is going to throw $1.6 billion at the problem.

$1,600,000,000/754,000=$2122.16 per person...
So every day, per person, spend $5.81.
That just about would get you a burger, fries and drink. People need shelter and jobs, and we're giving them Happy Meals.
And somehow, we think that $6.00 a day per person is going to cure this?
We ARE cheapskates, aren't we?
